Autumn is here

No Comments Sverige

I’ve been feeling cold and tired all day today so tonight I’ve been snuggled up on the couch under my blanket with my UGG boots on drinking warm tea.

I love my UGGs!!

Spring forward, Fall back

The clocks were set ahead one hour this weekend when daylight savings started in Australia. We have to wait until the end of October for it to end here in Sweden.

I got a Crock-Pot

4 Comments Sverige

Remember about a year ago when I first discovered there was something called a slow cooker (if not you can have a look HERE). We’ve talked about getting one ever since but haven’t really got around to it. This weekend when Simon came home from Älmhult he brought a surprise and guess what it was – a Crock-Pot! I understand they’re very handy,  saving you both hassle when cooking and money so I’m excited to try it out. Right now I’m just trying to figure out what my first attempt to cook in it will be. Maybe you readers have a suggestion or a favourite recipe to share, I know the slow cookers are especially popular in USA, UK and Australia.

From Crock-Pot’s homepage:

Slow electric cooking in stoneware combines brand new – old time principles to produce exceptional flavor, nutrition and economy cooking. Low-watt heat surrounds the food to bring it gently to the peak of perfection. A Crock-Pot® slow cooker does not heat from the bottom – so you’ll have no scorching and less boiling away of juices and nutrients. Less chance of overcooking, or shrinking of meats.

The Crock-Pot® slow cooker, uses only approximately 75 watts of electricity on LOW and approximately 150 watts on HIGH. It cooks all day for only a few cents!

In addition to enjoying better flavor, homemade meals, and saving money on meats and electricity, you will have more leisure time. Just add the ingredients, start the Crock-Pot® slow cooker and go off for the day! You’ll come home hours later to a warm and inviting home cooked meal.

AFL Grand Final 2011

No Comments Melbourne

Today was Grand Final Day, a huge event in Australia. Remeber last year when there was a draw and they had a rematch one week later? Well, that didn’t happen this year. Collingwood was one of the top teams last year and they played St Kilda in the final and won. This year Collingwood was one of the top two teams again but this time they played Geelong and the Cats won with 38 points over the Pies 18.11 (119) to 12.9 (81).

99,537 fans were at the MCG today watching the game live. If you wanted to watch the game live here in Sweden you had to be up at around 6 am due to the time difference. I don’t think I have to clarify that I wasn’t but Simon and Stephen was up bright and early and wached it of course. I was happy just getting a short recap of the game and reading about who won when I woke up. 🙂
