Shipping from Sweden to Australia

12 Comments Shipping belongings

We’ve started to organise our move trying to figure out what stuff to keep and what to sell. With the things I want to keep there are of course some things that I would like to bring with me to give our home in Australia a little Swedish touch and there are things that have a sentimental value to me too that I would like to bring if I can.

So we’ve started to look into different shipping options since we have no idea on how much it would cost, whether sea or air freight would be the best option or what company to use. We’ve received some advice but mostly from people that have done it the other way around from Australia to Sweden. Maybe one of you readers have some good advice from own experiences, anything you can share with us on the subject would be highly appreciated.

Hi, am on the same hunt as you are. We are a swassie family in Stockholm moving to Qld for a year and a half in 6 months. I will post more info when I find it. Where in Sweden are you based?

We’re located in Göteborg. We ended up using a UK based company called Move Corp (http://swaussie.se/2012/07/move-corp) as the price was dramatically lower than the Swedish companies we contacted. We’ll post an update on how that works out. 🙂

I’ve heard good things about Swedish Alfa Moving though. They’re very pricy so I guess it depends on whether you’re paying for the move yourself or if you’re lucky to have a company cover the cost.

    Hi there!

We are also a Swassie family living in Malmö and planning the big move back to Queensland next year. Debating what to sell and take with us. Have requested a quote from Movecorp also. Would really like to hear how the move goes for you, and all the details. What you eventually paid in total, how much you took, did you pack yourselves, any problems with customs, pick up of your stuff in Sweden and delivery in Oz any hidden costs, and any other recommendations you might have. Will look forward
    Thanks and good luck!!
