Swedish Midsummer for Dummies
Tough decision
We made a tough decision the other week, Pollux is not coming to Australia with us.
After having had a serious discussion about it, weighing pros and cons for him coming, we decided it’s best for him to stay in Sweden. He’s my best friend, my little soul mate that has been there for me through happiness and sadness the last 7 years and it will be very tough leaving him. But he’s almost 8 years old by the time he can leave and it doesn’t seem fair to put him through the long flight and a month of quarantine when I know he’ll be well looked after back here and will be happy. Especially since we would have to leave him alone all day when we’re at work too (no doggy kindy in Australia) and he gets company all day back here and lots of walks.
Euphoria
Sweden got a smashing win at the Eurovision Song Contest final in Baku, Azerbaijan this weekend (if someone managed to miss it). The competition, both the local one where the country’s representative is picked and the international one are big events in Sweden and CNN has made an analysis to this phenomena. Why CNN find that so important is somewhat unclear but reading their analysis is quite entertaining. Read more
Sweden cufflinks
The latest addition to Ibolya Vass’ Memories of Sweden range – cufflinks. Love it!
Back to reality
What team should you be barracking for?
When in Oz you have to have a footy team that you go for. For those of you that might be indecisive I’ll pass on a photo Marie shared in the Swaussie Facebook page that might help you make up your mind.
Nice camera bag
Through a Swedish camera blog I follow I found out about American Kelly Moore‘s really nice camera bag collection. It’s such a great idea to actually design a camera bag that doesn’t look like an ugly camera bag but more like a normal handbag. I’m surprised no one thought of that before (or maybe someone did and I’ve missed it). Anyway, I think it’s awesome and want to share it with you here in the blog.
Spotify, finally in Oz
Spotify announced yesterday that it’s now possible for everyone Down Under to sign up for this great music service, one of Sweden’s best inventions ever. With Spotify you can search for artists, songs or albums and start playing without having to download the tracks. You can create playlists and share music with friends.
There are three different plans available, one of them being free but then you have to live with the fact that they play ads every now and then and there is a restriction to the hours you may use the service and how many times you’re allowed to play a track. it gets pretty annoying so I would recommend you to chose either the Unlimited plan for $6.99/month which gets rid of the ads and gives you unlimited usage or the even better Premium plan (that I have here in Sweden) for $11.99 giving you enhanced sound quality and the possibility to use the service both online, offline and on your computer or mobile as well.
We recommend you to visit the homepage and get on board straight away!
