REN af Sweden

No Comments Australia, Typically Swedish

Found an Australian company today with Swedish roots that I want to share with you. It’s called REN af Sweden (Ren means reindeer in Swedish) and their signature item is a recreation of the 70’s icon here in Sweden – knitted moccasins. I remember wearing them as a kid too even though I’m a child of the 80’s. These cuties will keep your kid’s feet warm inside during those cold Australian winter days.

Keep the kiddies feet warm and snug on cold floors, and those wobbly toddlers upright with the non-skid leather sole.” Check out their website for more models.

Bye bye Jönköping

2 Comments Sverige

I was in Jönköping today together with my mum cleaning out the fridge and freezer in the apartment and picking up the last things we had left there. I had a meeting with the buyers at the bank this afternoon and now the apartment is officially not mine anymore. I have mixed feelings. I’m happy to call Göteborg home but it was a great apartment, the one in Jönköping and I will miss it. But now it’s time to look forward not backwards!

One step in that direction is the little shelf I bought today for the kitchen. We needed an extra bench space so that the entire kitchen bench top can be used when cooking. So now we’re one step closer to having the apartment organized.

I thought it was a real bargain – only 199 SEK.

I just don’t know how I managed to get bruised assembling it. 😛

Hen night

1 Comment Blekinge

Did you figure out Friday’s clue? The secret was one of my high school friend’s hen night, bachelorette party or möhippa as we say in Swedish. I think the British, Irish, Aussies and Kiwis call it a hen night/party and the Americans use the term bachelorette party. Anyway, it doesn’t matter. What’s different from a Swedish möhippa and an Australian hen night is that in Sweden it’s a big secret. The bride to be doesn’t know about the party in advance (the same goes for the guy on his bachelor/stag/box party or svensexa as we call it in Swedish). Read more
