National dishes?

3 Comments Typically Aussie

Something I noticed when I was in Australia was that Aussies sure seem to love their meat pies and sausage rolls, both of them served with tomato sauce (or ketchup as we would call it).

Unlike other meat filled pies, Australian meat pies are often individual portion sized of buttery, flaky pastry filled with ground beef and gravy. They’re not filled with a lot of runny sauce inside them, that way they can be eaten out of hand as a take away fast food. Australians consume almost 260 million meat pies a year!

I thought I would try to make some home made meat pies and/or sausage rolls to surprise Simon with. I googled recipes and there are heaps and heaps out there, maybe you have a good recipe to recommend?
